While attending a recent Eagles concert in Wichita, Kansas, this writer considered how this famous rock group has survived all these years. Growing up in the 70s, she has felt the group’s influence her entire life. As one of the band members remarked, they were now on their “assisted-living tour”, giving evidence of their long run of success.
Still going strong, the Eagles are an amazing, talented group of men who still manage to sell out every stadium seat.
Other popular bands have split up and gone their own ways, but not the Eagles. They are still as wonderful as ever they once were.
As this writer sat tapping her feet or cheering along with hundreds of other fans, she was reminded of one of her favorite Bible verses.
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 KJV)
As time passes, sometimes people grow weary of their day-to-day struggles with living.
Not everyone has had a successful life. Not everyone has fulfilled his potential. And not everyone has a bulging bank account to show for all of their hard work.
This is why it is important for believers to lean on God throughout their lives, as they run the race set before them. Because only those who make it to the end will receive their crown, their reward.
If we wait upon God, He will be sure to renew our strength as we grow older. He will mount us up with wings as eagles that will make our frail bodies stronger. When we grow weary with what life has to offer, He will keep us from fainting.
While sitting in a college classroom one afternoon, all one woman could think of was of how tired she was. A single parent, her life was busy and wearying. She wanted only to lay her head down on the desk and go to sleep. At that moment, while trusting God to help her get through another class, an overwhelming feeling of power washed over her. Amazed, she felt the tingling of God’s amazing strength flow through her. Rejuvenated, she sat up straighter, amazed, for God had renewed her strength.
Yes, this writer was truly amazed when that happened.
