With the Christmas season in full swing, it is hard to believe so many celebrate what even God doesn’t condone.

There is a small Jewish population in Wellington, Kansas celebrating Hanukkah, but the fact is, even Christians should celebrate that, instead of Christmas.

Yet there is a more important holiday we should celebrate.

The Feast of Tabernacles.

One of the most important of all Jewish holy days, it is one that Jesus risked His own life for. (John 7: 2-14, 25) In October, 2010, over 5,000 Christians from 80 countries traveled to Jerusalem to celebrate it.

CBN President Michael Little made his 50th trip to Israel. He says the feast is “… kind of like heaven because you hear all of these languages, and you see all these people from different countries. They’re talking about Jesus. They’re talking about their relationship with other Christians. They’re talking about God.” (www.cbn.com)

The bottom line is that all Christians must learn of it and begin to celebrate it.

Why? Because it is one of the most important festivals God intends for us to celebrate.

The Feast of Tabernacles follows the Day of Atonement and lasts for seven days. Known as the Feast of Ingathering or Sukkoth by the Jews today, this festival celebrates what we know as the Millennium, the 1,000-year reign of Jesus Christ on the earth.

According to www.ucg.org, “Christ will set up the Kingdom of God following His return to the earth. Isaiah describes this future period as a time of peace when God’s law will go forth to all nations from Jerusalem (Isaiah 2:2-4). The fierce nature of some animals will change (Isaiah 11:6; 65:25), the earth will become highly productive (Isaiah 35:1) [More importantly],‘the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea’ (Isaiah 11:9). With Satan’s evil influence removed, all of humanity will at last learn God’s ways.

“This perfect environment will be designed to offer all people the opportunity to repent of their sins and come to God the Father through Jesus Christ.”

Zechariah 14:19 states that “…there will be punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.” It is the fulfillment of all of God’s promises to Abraham.

To disobey God in this is to incur His wrath.

Even in this perfect environment.

“And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.” (Zechariah 14:16 KJV)
