An article dated June 18, 2010 from the Financial Times, FT.com, by Stephanie Kirchgaessner in Washington, explains how the Federal Communications Commission has begun taking steps toward adopting new regulations for the broadband industry.
The legal change being pursued by the FCC it to change the classification from Title I information services to Title II telecommunications classification of broadband providers, which would legally give the FCC greater authority to enforce rate changes and unbundling. Affected would be providers such as Comcast and AT&T, which has slammed the FCC proposal because it would cost more jobs.
Senator Jay Rockefeller (of course) is the Democratic chairman of the Senate commerce committee and oversees the FCC. Senator Rockefeller supports the FCC in this matter.
Regardless of what the FCC and, by extension, the Obama administration intend to do, none of this bodes well for America. It is just another attempt for the rich and powerful, who own us already, to gain more control over us and destroy America as we know it.
Of course, it’s business as usual in Washington.
